4 Steps I Use To Get Daily Targeted Traffic To My Local Business
Before spending more money on advertising, position your business where people are already searching for the products and services you provide.
Search Traffic Changed The Way I Market My Local Business.
One of the biggest lessons I learned from marketing my own business is simple:
Don't only chase customers. Position your business so customers searching for your service can discover you.
Here are four of the principles I use.
Your Business Name Is More Important Than You May Think.
When starting or genuinely naming a service-based business, I believe the name should make it immediately clear what the business actually does.
If someone needs a particular service, what words are they naturally going to use when searching for that service?
This was part of my thinking when marketing my own local business.
Instead of depending on an unfamiliar name that doesn't immediately explain the service, I market my business as:
Glasses Repairs TTThe name tells people what the business does before they even visit the page.
I'm not talking about adding random keywords to a listing.
I'm talking about the actual branding decision: choosing a genuine business name that clearly communicates the service you provide.
Build A Complete Google Business Profile.
If you operate a local business, your Google Business Profile can become one of your most valuable online assets.
Complete the relevant sections of your profile: your business category, services, hours, contact information, service area or location where appropriate, photos and other accurate information about the business.
Keep it updated. Add real photos. Keep your hours accurate. Clearly describe the services you actually provide.
Turn Happy Customers Into Reviews.
Reviews are more than stars beside your name.
They give future customers evidence that real people have used your service and are willing to share their experience.
Over time, genuine reviews can strengthen the reputation surrounding your business and help potential customers make a more informed decision about contacting you.
Now Comes The New Opportunity: AI Search.
The way people search is changing.
Instead of typing only a few keywords, people can now ask Google and AI tools complete questions.
Now replace my service with yours.
That's where things become very interesting for a local business.
When somebody asks AI about the exact service you provide in your area... will your business be one of the businesses they discover?
